The Carlo Valentini hut was built in 1884
on the old road which connected Val di Fassa with Val Gardena,
the first refuge on the Sella Pass mainly giving hospitality
to passing business men.
Even after the construction of the new road, slightly to
the north, the warm family atmosphere never stopped feeding
the caravans of passers by who wanted to visit the land of
the Dolomites, fascinated by the panoramas offered by the
generous local nature.
For four generations the hut has been modernized, from
my great grandfather to my father. Carlo Valentini now has
sleeping accommodation for 45 including bathrooms both en
suite and adjoining on each floor.
The tradition of the mountains
and climbing has found in this famous refuge the ideal departure
point for excursions as well as for rock climbs in the Sella
and Sassolungo groups, as it is situated just below these
wonderful areas.
It can be reached by car 100 metres from
the provincial road or else by foot in only 10 minutes from
Passo Sella. |
